Meet Brian Zhao

Brian is a CPA and SMSF specialist, recognised with the Top Achiever Award from the SMSF Association. He holds a master’s degree in professional accounting and brings extensive experience in SMSF management. Brian is passionate about helping clients with retirement planning and empowering them to achieve confidence and control over their financial futures. Drawn to HSQC Groups’ strong culture of professionalism and collaboration, Brian is excited to contribute to our ongoing commitment to excellence.

Meet Alison Parry

Alison brings more than a decade of experience in the SMSF sector, having progressed from accountant to assistant manager at Findex, where she specialised in complex funds and unique cases. With a strong background in process development and data analytics, Alison holds both a bachelor’s degree in commerce and a master’s in business analytics. She looks forward to applying her analytical skills to support HSQC’s growth and help develop SMSF expertise across the firm.

Their Role at HSQC

In their new roles as SMSF specialists, Brian and Alison will work with accountants across the HSQC Group to provide tailored services to SMSF clients, including:

• SMSF Setup & Structuring: Advising on fund suitability, preparing trust deeds, trustee structures, and ATO/ASIC registrations.
• Compliance & Regulatory Support: Monitoring compliance with SIS Act and ATO requirements, contribution limits, pension rules, and documentation.
• Taxation & Accounting: Managing SMSF-specific tax obligations, preparing member statements, financial accounts, and annual returns.
• Retirement & Pensions: Advising on retirement income streams and ensuring minimum pension standards are met.
• Estate Planning & Succession: Supporting clients with binding nominations and trustee succession planning.
• Administration & Ongoing Support: Coordinating audits, maintaining fund records, and providing compliance updates.

Together, Brian and Alison bring a wealth of technical knowledge, process expertise, and client focus to the HSQC team.
