2020's
Local strength. National scale. One HSQC Group
HSQC Group entered 2022 with one vision: unite great local firms into a national platform. Now serving 40,000 clients with 100 staff, we’ve expanded into finance, planning, and insurance—and joined Australia’s top 25 accounting groups.
2010's
Identification of a gap in the market
HSQC Partners was founded in 2010 as a management consulting firm focused on transaction services and transformation in large financial service organisations. Over time, we recognised the same opportunity at a smaller scale—specifically within accounting firms, an under-served sector in business transformation. By removing the burden of corporate functions like operations, technology, marketing, and HR from founders, we empowered them to refocus on their core business. And so, the journey began consolidating accounting firms many of which have already been operating for 20+ years.
2000's
Technology Achievements
By 2000, accounting was transforming—desktop software, electronic lodgements, and advisory services were gaining ground. Critique Accounting & Bookkeeping emerged as Canberra’s largest bookkeeping firm. In 2005, Successful Alliances launched, identifying a market gap for end-to-end outsourced finance—from bookkeeping, accounts payable to CFO services & Advisory Services.
1990's
Consolidating Client Base
In the 1990s, our founders began consolidating a diverse client base, building strong relationships in a changing accounting landscape. As firms remained largely local and technology was still emerging, they focused on trust, personalised service, and long-term partnerships—laying the groundwork for a future national platform by uniting clients under a shared commitment to quality and continuity.
The 1980's
Foundation years for our local firms
In the 1980's, many of our founders family firms, including Hussey & Hussey, ITP, LCA, VBA, Pinnacle and Prosperity, opened for business from Brisbane to Sydney, Canberra and regional NSW. Accounting was manual and compliance-focused—ledgers, typewriters, and calculators were the tools of the trade. Tax rates topped 60%, GST didn’t exist, and superannuation wasn’t compulsory. Firms operated locally with little automation, relying on trust, accuracy, and hard work.
